Ophelia Cason, 69
Ophelia Ann Cason, age 69, of Leander, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021, in Round Rock. Ann was born September 4, 1951 in Winkler County, Texas to Elmo Martin Briscoe and Bertie Inez (Malone) Briscoe. She was a Kermit High School graduate and attended two years of college.
She joined the U.S. Army at the age of 24 and served over nine years active duty and the remainder of her 27 years in the National Guard. She worked at Camp Mabry in Austin for several years, retiring in 2003. She also worked for the Texas Department of Public Service for several years. She married Reggie Cason on July 27, 1996 in Brady. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Leander. She enjoyed cooking and antiquing with her husband Reggie. She was a member of the Hillbilly Hits Fan Club. She has lived in Leander since 2003 after living in the Pflugerville/Austin area since 1986.
Funeral services for Ann Cason will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 17, at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Brady with Reverend Gordon Cox officiating. Reverend Carlton Jackson will assist. Interment with military honors will follow at the Camp San Saba Cemetery in Camp San Saba. The family will receive friends Saturday morning, prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m. at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels.

Pallbearers will be Trinton Kirby, Jonathan Kirby, Jr., Joshua Kirby, Jerry Wiltshire, Christopher Williams and Clifton West.
Ann is survived by her loving husband, Reggie Cason of Leander; son, Jonathan Kirby, Sr. and wife, Desiree, of Cedar Park; grandchildren, Trinton Kirby, Jonathan Kirby, Jr. and Joshua Kirby; her beloved dog “Blackie” and several very close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
