COVID cases spiking again in McCulloch
As of 4 p.m. Thursday, the number of active COVID-19 cases in McCulloch numbered 27.
There were only 16 active cases on Monday.
There has been a small, but noticeable increase over the past two weeks with the number previously hovering between 15 and 20 active cases.
Across the state, the availability of hospital beds has reached a critical level due to the increase in cases coupled with the decreased supply of medical staff.
Area hospitals that treat COVID cases on an in-patient basis are at, or near capacity.
"This has a definitive impact on healthcare right here in Brady," said Tim Jones, administrator of the Heart of Texas Healthcare System. "When the hospitals we transfer to stop accepting transfers, that means if you are here in Brady and break a leg, have a car accident or worse — it may delay care at a critical life threatening time."
Vaccines are readily available in McCulloch County and local health officials are urging all citizens to obtain the vaccine as soon as possible to help prevent further spread of the virus.
Brady Medical Clinic has the vaccine available. Schedule an appointment by calling 325-597-2114.
