James Stewart has been named as the next city manager for the City of Brady. James Stewart has been named as the next city manager for the City of Brady.

The Brady City Council has announced the appointment of James Stewart as the new City Manager, following an extensive selection process. In the coming weeks, Stewart will assume the role and work with the interim city manager to integrate into the new position full-time.
The decision was formally announced Tuesday evening after the city council voted on and approved Stewart’s formal contract. The council has extended a one-year renewable contract to Stewart, which has become standard practice in recent years.  
Stewart, a community member since 1997, has been the publisher and editor of the Brady Standard-Herald for more than 25 years. He has decades of civic and community involvement and previously served the city as mayor and a member of the city council. In accepting the new role as city manager, he has announced that he has relinquished his position at the newspaper effective immediately and will transition to working full-time for the community’s citizens.  
With his decades of local journalism experience, involvement, and experience in the local political arena, Stewart believes he understands the community’s needs and will be able to facilitate a smooth transition as he takes over Brady’s municipal operations. In accepting the position, he expressed enthusiasm for joining Brady’s leadership team and communicated a vote of confidence in the current staff and state of affairs within the organization. 
“I am honored to be chosen to serve as Brady’s City Manager and look forward to collaborating with city staff, officials, and residents to build on the city’s successes and address future opportunities,” he said. “I am committed to earning the support and trust not only of the council and staff but of the community as well.”
