Mabel Jones, 102

It is with great sadness that the family of Mabel Jones, 102, share the news that she was taken by her Lord and Savior on July 12, 2024. She was born April 4, 1922, to Oscar and Maude Sparks in Concho County.

She had a full life and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brady, a member of the Rochelle Study Club and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She taught school for 34 years and dear to her heart were her former students.

Mabel was preceded in death by the parents; her husband, Derrell Jack Jones; and a son, Larry Jones.

She is survived by her daughter, Jackie Powers of San Angelo; and two grandchildren, Leak and Ty Powers.

She will be deeply missed. Mabel will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her kind spirit, her selflessness and her unwavering faith. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, July 18, with services following at 2 p.m., both at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels. Private burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery.
